Reverend Dr. Burrell A. Smith, Jr.

The Reverend Dr. Burrell A. Smith, Jr. is a native of Charles City, Virginia.  Pastor Smith graduated from Ruthville High School in Charles City. He served four years in the United States Air Force.  

In preparation for his ministerial call, he completed studies in Religion and Pastoral Counseling.  He has earned an Associate Degree from J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College, a Bachelor of Religious Education degree from Virginia University of Lynchburg, a Master of Divinity Degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology of Virginia Union University, a Certification in Pastoral Counseling from the Virginia Institute of Pastoral Care and a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Virginia Union University.

Reverend Smith was licensed to preach the gospel in 1988 and ordained in 1990. Prior to joining the New Vine Church Family in 1992, he served as Associate Pastor and Youth Minister of Antioch Baptist Church.   

He holds membership in the following organizations: Past President of the Ministers Council of American Baptist Churches of the South Area II and past Regional Board Member of the same, Moderator for Star of The East Baptist Association, Life member NAACP, Member Vision Coalition for Charles City County, the VUU Alumni Association, and Past President of the Charles City Christian Clergy Conference.   

Pastor Smith is the son of the late Deacon Emeritus Burrell A. Smith, Sr. and the late Josephine Smith.  He is married to the former Sabrina D. Watson of Washington, D.C. He is the father of two children and grandfather of seven.
